SSRS Student Screening and Referral Services Caseworker

I am employed through GACASA (Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse) part-time, and have the wonderful opportunity to be at St. Joseph School on a partial grant.

What do I do at St. Joseph School?  My position is to meet with students who are referred to me either by the principal, staff, or parent.  I will meet with the student a few times and if a referral of outside service needs to be made I will work with the principal, and family to make sure the family is pointed in the right direction to get the student the services they need.

I also run a few programs here at the school including Second Step (3rd grade), which is a program that is designed to help students concentrate better on school by knowing how to focus their attention, manage their feelings, get along with peers, and problem solve.

In previous years I have also run our SUPA group (students united for positive action) this group consists of 6-8th grade students and is designed to provide; media literacy, education and awareness, as well as volunteer opportunities in the community.

I coordinate our Red Ribbon Week activities in October as well.

My office is located in the upstairs of the annex building, and the days I work are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.  There are several ways to contact me but the best way would probably be through my work cell phone, located left column of this page.  I do not check messages on the days I am off, however the day I return to work I do check them in the morning.  This cell phone is provided to me through GCASA, so feel free to leave me messages regarding your student, or any concerns or questions you might have and I will try to address them promptly.

You can also reach me through e-mail and my e-mail address is ecalarco-smith @gcasa.org.

Of course, I  can also be reached on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday by calling the office here at St. Joseph School.
