_Ten students from St. Joseph middle school(Lynese Castro, Jacob Cryer, Alexis Hackmer, Erin Phillips, Reid Rademacker, Nick Rosone, Rachel Salvador, Kyra Stella, Julia Streeter, and Natalie Thornton)  volunteered their day at the Special Olympics Track Meet at York Central School.  About 400 athletes participated in this annual event and the students from St. Joe's held the finish line and ran heat sheets (pieces of paper with information about who is in each heat) from the start line to the finish line.  They also took over the job of making sure all of the volunteers got lunches.  Four of the ten students also helped at the meet last year; Alexis Hackmer, Rachel Salvador, Lynese Castro, and Jacob Cryer.  They had a wonderful time and did an awesome job.  Last year, Alexis said "that was the best thing I have ever done" after the meet was finished and Mrs. Rosone, who watched the Opening Ceremonies said "It was so inspirational.  I thought, 'this is the reason we are on this earth'"
