Upcoming St. Joseph School Events
29th Parents Meet the Teacher Night at 7:00 PM
In the Spotlight -We Need You!
In an effort to maintain and improve the viability of Catholic Education in western New York, the Diocese of Buffalo now requires that each Catholic school has a “Board of Limited Jurisdiction.” Similar to a school board at a public school, this board provides oversight on policy matters related to enrollment management, academic and religious programming, financial viability, advancement, and facilities. Related short and long terms goals and policy development will be guided by a strategic plan to be developed by this same group. This new board will replace the former St. Joseph School Advisory Council.
According to the diocesan policy, the membership of St. Joseph School Board must be a mix of clergy, parishioners, community partners, and a limited number of parents with specific expertise that will directly benefit strategic planning. The principal and the President of the Home School Association (S.O.S) will serve as non-voting members.
Because the role for parents in this new format has been reduced from our previous model of an advisory council, the new established St. Joseph School Board is creating subcommittees where we can still hear your voice! Why? Your voice is important and it is because of you that St. Joseph School will continue to improve and thrive today and for many years to come!
We need you for the following subcommittees for the 2014-2015 academic year!
Are you passionate about ensuring this school is here for years to come? When you hear about schools thriving financially, having the resources to add technology and making building improvements, it is often because of the success of committees like this one! The Advancement Committee will recommend guidelines intended to provide the financial resources needed by the school to achieve its goals. This may include strategic goals for financial planning, alumni appeals, major gifts, grants, aid and capital campaigns. In addition, this committee will make recommendations regarding public relations, enrollment management and marketing.
Education and Quality Assurance Committee:
Are you interested in your child’s academic achievement? Do you want your child’s education to be unique and interesting? This committee will make recommendations regarding curriculum, academic and religious programming, educational procedures/guidelines and developing goals for the strategic plan.
Are you interested in a safe and healthy environment for your children? Do you have building skills or knowledge? The Facilities Committee makes recommendations related to capital repairs and overall maintenance programs for the school building, grounds and equipment. This includes safety, security, cleanliness and code requirements of the buildings and site.
