The inclusion of the spiritual piece in each child's education helps to form a well rounded experience for all those involved, students, families and teachers. Welcome to Middle School Mathematics
6th grade is learning about rates and ratios as well as how these topics relate to their daily lives. 7th grade is building on concepts from 6th grade and applying it to new ideas. We are discussing rates and proportional relationships as well as the various representations of those relationships. Pre-Algebra 7th grade is building a strong foundation for Algebra topics through Pre-Algebra lessons followed by the associated Algebra lessons. We began our year with a quick review of the rules for integer operations and evaluating expressions in preparation for the topics to come later in the year. We are starting the year with Module 1 of the Algebra course which touches on the several types of functional relations and their graphs. 8th grade is building on concepts from 7th grade and applying them to new ideas. We began the year discussing the rules for using exponents in mathematical computations and applying them to scientific notation. Algebra 8th spent the first two weeks reviewing material from the end of last year in preparation for the upcoming modules. We are picking up where the class left off last year in the middle of Module 3 and discussing the graphical representations of functional relations and the transformations of those relations. |
