St. Joseph Regional School teachers welcome and encourage communication with families regarding all aspects of a student's development.
Grades K, 1 and 2 will be making a life sized igloo using recycled egg cartons.
Studying shapes and habitats. The students will be constructing different habitats using provided resources. They learn about classifying resources.
Studying Penguins and Cold Climate Habitats
Learning all about penguins and their behaviors.
Constructing homes for penguins using provided materials
Constructing igloos with mini marshmallows and creating our own version of some of the top winter games from the olympics.
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades
Students are beginning our Invention Convention Challenge.
Students will pair in groups of two to create an invention following the engineering guidelines of WNYInvention Convention. Finalists from each grade will move on to compete in the Western NY competition at the end of April.
Students are working on making cardboard boats for our first ever- Cardboard Boat Regatta. Students will work in small groups to research, design, and engineer a boat that is constructed of only cardboard and duct tape. During Catholic Schools Week the students will bring their creations to be tested for buoyancy.
Students are working on coding block activities using Scratch Jr App and robots.
First/ Second Grade
Students are working on building keyboarding skills and document formatting.
Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade
Keyboarding skills and review. Students will learn how or review how to use Google Earth. We will be looking at some venues and events related to the winter olympics. We will be documenting medal winners using Google sheets and graphs.
