Second Grade News
Coming Full Circle
When I retired in 2007 the sign outside my previous school said "Mrs. Starowitz has left the building." Well it looks like Mrs. Starowitz reentered a building, St. Joseph School in 2018. It is very exciting for me to be in my grade school that I graduated
from in 1964! It is truly wonderful to be teaching here. I have a wonderful class and a wonderful staff to work with. It was always said that leadership comes from the top. Mrs. Green is a great leader.
In second grade, we are reading Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. The children are enjoying it so much, they love the stuffed animal characters that go with the famous book.
In Social Studies, we learned about the continents beginning with the student, then on to the street that he/she lives. From that point we continued on to the city/village, state, country and last to the continent we live on.
The children need to answer a multiplication fact to enter the classroom every morning. We are currently learning how to multiply and then we will go into division.
In Science we are about to begin a unit on classifying rocks.
Every day we are practicing our Act of Contrition for our First Penance on Tuesday, March 6th at 9:00 AM.
