First Grade News
Welcome to First Grade! I am excited to share this year with your child. Due to CDC guidelines, our year will look different than it has in the past, but we will be walking this new path together.
The SuperKids will take us through our English Language Arts Curriculum. We begin the year with review of letter sounds and formation. We will then advance to decoding CH, SH, and TCH pattern sounds. Additionally, we will work on nouns.
In Math, we will begin with addition through number bonds, then move through comparing numbers with more than and less than.
In Science, we will focus on stages of life starting with human beings, moving to plants then animals (primarily mammals), and ending with insects. We will compare and contrast the stages of life with these.
In Social Studies, we will review American Symbols such as the Statue of Liberty and the American Flag.
We will be busy this year! I am looking forward to a great year!
