Concert and Grading Policies
CONCERT POLICIES:
Attendance at the Concerts counts for 20% of your Classroom Music Grade in the 2nd and 4th marking period. Athletic, dance or social conflicts are not considered a legal absence from the concert. Only illness or severe weather will result in an excused absence. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call me through the Main Office.
Classroom Music will perform first at 6:30. At the conclusion of the Classroom Music portion of the concert there will be a 15 minute intermission. If your child is NOT performing in Handbells, Band or Choir, then at the intermission you may take your child(ren) home. Students performing in the ensembles are expected to remain for the duration of the concert.
Grading for Classroom Music:
Classroom Music grades are based primarily on classroom participation. After each Music Class a Participation Grade is given. Students who actively participate and cause no disruption will receive a 100 for the day. For each disruption, I take 5 points from the participation grade for the day. Repeated, persistent disruptions will result in a phone call home.
Report Card Grading Formula
1st & 3rd Marking Periods 2nd & 4th Marking Periods
90% Class Participation 70% Class Participation
10% Written work 20% Concert Attendance
10% Written work
If no written work is given in a marking period, then the 10% will be added to the Participation weight in the grade.
