Mrs. Barbara Paserk
St. Joseph School teachers welcome and encourage communication with families regarding all aspects of a student's development.
The new chromebooks have arrived. They are being set up for students to use and should be distributed this week. With that in mind our focus will be on basic computer skills for the beginning of the year. Our focus will be on logging in and proper keyboarding as well as using Google docs, sheets, slides and classroom.
Kindergarten and First Grade are working on parts of the computer, proper procedures and rules in the lab, location of letters and home row on the keyboard. Some first grade students learned how to make a shortcut on the desktop.
Second grade is working on logging in, proper procedures and rules in the lab, accessing the web browser and creating shortcuts for the desktop. All of second grade has learned how to create a shortcut on the desktop.
Third grade is working on logging in, proper procedures and rules in the lab, accessing the web browser and creating shortcuts for the desktop. All of third grade has learned how to create a shortcut on the desktop and helped create shortcuts for the kindergarten desktops as well. We will be focusing on proper keyboarding skills in preparation of our new chromebooks.
Fourth Grade is reviewing proper procedures for use of the lab, creating shortcuts on the desktop, and keyboarding. They have also created a "About Me" word cloud.
Fifth - Eighth Grades are reviewing proper procedures and rules in the lab and proper keyboarding. We are learning about cybersecurity.
Sixth - Eighth Grades have completed a Google slide presentation about cyber-security and created a technology alphabet to be used for an upcoming project.
We look forward to having some projects in collaboration with Mrs. Ellis in Art. Stillmotion video, photo editing and word art just to name a few.
