Why a Catholic Education Matters
Catholic education is the foundation of our everyday lives. Not only do students learn about core subjects, but they also learn to be a better human being and to shine the light of Christ on everyone they meet. I went to Holy Family elementary school and loved the environment and the "family" feeling of the school. When I saw an ad for the middle school at St. Joseph School, I had to apply and have not been disappointed!

6/7/8 Math News

_
_ Pi Day is quickly approaching.  Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th and we have a party to celebrate this infamous number.  Students in eighth grade are making Pi Day shirts and all grades will be bringing in circular foods and watching the movie Flatland.

Welcome Miss Mitchell! On March 19th, we will get a student teacher from SUNY Brockport named Miss Mitchell.  She is studying to be a middle or high school math teacher.  Hopefully she will be able to learn a lot about teaching from being in our room!

6th Grade
The sixth graders are working hard at finding the area and perimeter of various shapes.  They have learned about circles, parallelograms, and triangles.  Next, we move on to 3-dimensional shapes.  Soon, we will be reviewing for the 6th grade state test, which is shortly after Easter Break.

Course 2
Students in Course 2 are learning about probability.  They are learning how to find the probability of compound events, both independent and dependent.  They have been working very hard.

Pre-Algebra
Students in pre-algebra just mastered graphing linear equations.  This is always a tough unit for students and they did an awesome job.  They can now graph lines that are in slope-intercept form and can change equations into slope-intercept form.  They can also graph inequalities and find solutions of both linear functions and inequalities.  They are now working on different types of transformations.

Course 3
Students in course 3 are working hard to finish up the topics that need to be covered before the 8th grade state test.  They are finishing up a unit on graphing and then will begin review.  They have been doing a great job keeping up with the complex topics and I know they will do very well on the state test.
