6/7/8 English and Seventh Grade Homeroom News
We are already more than halfway through our 2011-12 school year, and I’m very proud of the progress the middle school students are making in ELA!
All grades have been working on developing their oral fluency and public speaking skills in various manners: The 6th graders have prepared informational powerpoint presentations and are in the process of presenting their information to their classmates. The 7th graders are preparing informational or “how to” speeches that involve the audience in some fashion. The 8th grade has done a very impressive job preparing “how to” speeches that involve the audience in the activity. They presented their lessons to the 5th graders, who really enjoyed getting to make some crafts and enjoy some yummy treats! As we continue to prepare for the upcoming ELA test in April, we are all working from our Buckle Down books, as well as completing grammar, mechanics and content drills in class. This month we will begin some practice tests in the 6th and the 8th grade. God Bless! _ |
