Why a Catholic Education Matters
After spending the majority of my career in the public school system, it is refreshing to be in an environment where spiritually is not only permitted, but encouraged. The inclusion of the spiritual piece in each child's education helps to form a well rounded experience for all those involved, students, families and teachers.

4/5/6 Grade Math
and 5/6 Grade Social Studies News

Welcome to 4th, 5th, 6th grade Math and 5th, 6th grade Social Studies!
It’s going to be an exciting year at St. Joseph Regional School. Our 4th, 5th and 6th graders are going to experience their learning this year through various lenses thanks to participating in a team taught environment. The 4th, 5th and 6th grade Math classes will look familiar for all of our St. Joe’s families. We will continue to use Eureka Math and the same routines that you have come to know and love. In addition to Eureka, I will be utilizing Zearn and Khan Academy for those times when we may not be face to face in the classroom. Both of these websites are excellent resources for at home and classroom learning.

Social Studies in 5th and 6th grade is slightly different  from what you have experienced in the lower grades. We will be exploring the geography, people and historical events of the Eastern and  Western Hemispheres. The 5th graders will be starting a new unit soon in which we will study the types of government followed by 3 of the countries in the Western Hemisphere. The 6th graders will be learning about life in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome followed by world religions. Each week we read an uplifting article about a current event. We lovingly refer to these articles as Some Good News and write a 5W summary in which we highlight the who, what, when, where and why.

We are going to have a great second half of the year. SJRS, we are stronger together!
