Second Grade News

Welcome to Second Grade!
Science:
Save the Bees Unit. We will investigate how bees help the ecosystem. Students will conduct experiments and do research to determine how bees help the plants and how the plants help the bees!
Math:
We are finishing up our last two math modules. We are currently working on problem solving with length, money, and data. During the last module, we will focus on time, shapes, and fractions as equal parts of shapes. The students have been working on their multiplication facts as well.
ELA:
In our Superkids curriculum, we will be working on the last three units. The kids will be working on persuasive writing. We will also be reading informational texts and finding information in the text.  Toward the end of the year, we will be reading fairy tales and the kids will be working on a fairy tale project to show what they have learned.
Social Studies:
In Social Studies, we are learning about the difference between then and now. Students are discovering that communities change over time. Students have completed an interview with a family member about when they were in second grade. Students will work on Google Slides to complete a slideshow to present to the class about their interview.
Handwriting:
Students continue to work on their cursive handwriting!!
